In our February Trade Talks edition I wrote a column entitled ‘Business Person of the Year combines with BOBAA Awards’. We explained how the Brampton Board of Trade and Brampton’s Economic Development Office is working together to deliver a spectacular evening celebrating business excellence; highlighting a key note address from Mr. David Chilton, CBC Dragon.

I encouraged you to spend an evening of networking and fellowship at the Pearson Convention Center. Event details can be found at http://www.brampton.ca/en/Business/edo/Business-Achievement-Awards/Pages/welcome.aspx

Today we are very proud to announce that our Board of Directors recently acclaimed Ms. Linda Ford, President of Access Careers Solutions Inc., to be The Brampton Board of Trade’s ‘2012 – Business Person of the Year’. This award recognizes significant business achievement and acknowledges dedication and accomplishment within our community. On May 2, 2013, The Board of Trade, along with several of her colleagues, will present Linda Ford with this prestigious award.

Linda will be in good company; our previous recipients include Mr. Max Rice in 1982, Mr. Joe Harley the following year, Mr. Harry Lockwood in 1988, Mr. Al Brannon in 1994, Ms. Maria Britto in 2002. Mr. Neil Davis in 2007 and Mr. Rob Filkin in 2012 – to name a few…

Linda is a successful business woman on numerous levels and many of us are fortunate to call her a friend and colleague. Everyone who has used the professional services offered by Access Careers, will attest to the dedication and quality of service that Linda’s company provides. With over 28 years in the Staffing and HR industry, Linda Ford has literally matched thousands of candidates with careers.

Participating ‘within the community’ is very important to Linda; to actively work towards building a positive social and economic environment that will contribute to the overall success of her company as well as the enrichment of the cities where she works and lives.

As busy as Linda may be, a long list of accomplishments include; Past President of The Brampton Board of Trade, Vice-Chair of the Brampton Outstanding Business Achievement Awards Committee for nine years, a Member of the BBOT Policy and Government Relations Committee, sits on The Ladies on the Links Golf Committee, was an Ambassador for the City of Brampton in the inaugural year of the program, a member of Citizens for a Great City, Chair of The Business Development Committee and instrumental in the “Save our Hospital.ca” campaign.

Linda is also a member and Past President of (BPW Brampton) Business and Professional Women’s Association, has sat on the Planning Committee of Brampton Safe City Association and the Corporate Development Committee for the Brampton and Area Community Foundation.

Well known at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Linda was inducted as a Sheridan Business Hall of Fame recipient in 2008.

She has also been a long standing member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario and the HRPA (Peel Chapter). In 2005, 2007 and 2008 Linda was awarded the Community Contribution and Involvement Award by peers in The Staffing Industry.

Linda currently sits as an appointed member on the Advisory Committee for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, a private sector committee created to provide the government with advice on how to further improve business access to Federal programs and information.

It would be remise not to mention that Linda Ford’s company supports numerous community partners including The Business and Professional Women’s Club , Zonta Club of Brampton Caledon and Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Peel, The William Osler Hospital Foundation and numerous Secondary Schools and sports teams.

On May 2, 2013, please join The Brampton Board of Trade and The City of Brampton Economic Development Office as we tell the story, show some video and present an impressive group of Brampton businesses who have been nominated for a 2013 Brampton Outstanding Business Achievement Award. The envelopes from the Judges will be opened and together we will learn who will receive the ‘BOBAA Award’ within their business category.

The night will be an evening to remember.

See you there!
